We’re proud to team up with Hess Brothers Fruit Company to make our local system a little greener! By redirecting their surplus and waste apples away from landfills and into our operations, Hess Brothers is actively turning food waste into a valuable resource. Big thanks to the team at Hess Brothers for taking concrete steps toward a more conscious, circular footprint!

What we can & can’t take
A clean stream makes great compost. Here’s exactly what belongs in your Soil Partner bucket — and what has to stay out.
We happily accept
- Spent grains — Brewery & distillery mash — a nitrogen powerhouse.
- Fruit & veggie pomace — Juicing pulp, peels, and trim.
- Coffee grounds — Grounds and paper filters welcome.
- Sawdust & wood chips — Untreated, raw wood only.
- Clean cardboard — Plain, unwaxed, tape removed.
- Leaves & yard waste — Grass, leaves, and garden trimmings.
- Eggshells — Rinsed and crushed if you can.
Please keep out
- Meat & dairy — Draws pests — we aren’t equipped for it yet.
- Treated or painted wood — Chemicals don’t belong in soil.
- Plastics & compostable plasticware — Including "compostable" cups and utensils.
- Cooked oils & grease — Fats slow the pile and go rancid.
- Glossy or waxed cardboard — Coatings won’t break down.
- Pet waste — Not safe for food-crop compost.
