Planned for the first block

Castanea
The staple crop of a food forest — heavy, early-bearing mast.
Chestnuts are the anchor of the plan and the reason the nursery exists. The first block will pair improved orchard lines — selected for nut size, early bearing, and blight tolerance — with seedlings from regionally adapted stands for restoration and wildlife plantings.
Corylus
Fast to bear, shrub-sized, and happy in a hedgerow.
Hazels bear years before the canopy trees do, which makes them the workhorse of a young food forest. We are sourcing improved hybrid hazels — selected for eastern filbert blight resistance and kernel yield — alongside straight American hazelnut for hedgerows, windbreaks, and habitat.
Quercus
Native selections grown from local seed — the long game.
Oaks carry more wildlife value than almost anything else you can plant in Pennsylvania. The oak block leans native: seed collected from regionally adapted trees and grown to a plantable caliper, with selections chosen for consistent acorn production and form.
Nothing is sown yet, so the cultivar-level list is still open — and preorder interest is part of how it gets settled. We confirm exact species, genetics, and grade with you before any preorder is invoiced.
Where our trees come from
You are planting something that will outlive the decision. We tell you exactly which track a tree came from, so you can plant it on purpose.
Proven genetic lines
Propagated from named, evaluated parent material — lines that have already been grown out somewhere and judged on how they actually perform: bearing age, nut size, disease tolerance, and habit.
Native selections
Grown from seed collected off regionally adapted trees. Less uniform than a named line by design, and that variability is the point: a native block carries the genetic range that lets a planting survive a bad decade.
Seed to shipped tree
A tree nursery runs on a slower clock than a flower field, and we are at the front of it. Here is the schedule we are working to.
Sourcing seed and parent material for both tracks and prepping the nursery beds. Preorder interest lands in this window, which is exactly when it can still change what we sow.
Seed goes into stratification and into the beds to break dormancy over the cold months, the way these species do it in the wild.
Seedlings are graded and grown on outdoors in Zone 6b — no greenhouse forcing. Preorder holders get first call on the block, with species, genetics track, grade, and price confirmed before anything is invoiced.
The first block lifts in fall 2027 for bare-root shipping and farm pickup — the right season to put a tree in the ground in Pennsylvania.
Preordering
Preorder interest is how we size the block — and because the seed is not in the ground yet, it still changes what goes in. Tell us what you want to plant, how many, and what you are planting it for: an orchard, a hedgerow, silvopasture, a restoration project, or one good tree in the front yard. We sow to that.
Nothing is owed until we confirm your trees. As the 2027 block sizes up, preorder holders get first call on it, with species, genetics track, grade, and price confirmed before an invoice goes out.

Not yet, and we would rather say so plainly. We are sourcing seed and parent material now, sowing over the 2026–27 winter, and growing on through the 2027 season. That timing is the reason to tell us early: preorder interest placed now can still change how much of each species goes into the ground.
