We design for moments exactly like this.

Riding the edge of Run-a-Muck this morning and the wild handed us a gift. A fawn, curled in the tall grass, right where the cultivated land gives way to the wild.

In permaculture we call this the edge. It's where two worlds meet, where life gets richest, where we leave room for the ones who were here first. We don't farm every inch. We leave the margins wild on purpose, and this is who shows up: whitetail, songbirds, pollinators, and every so often, a brand new life blinking in the sun.
