This is what farmers drank before sports drinks existed. Switchel, also called haymaker's punch. A gallon of water, a cup of apple cider vinegar, a cup of maple syrup, half a cup of grated ginger, a teaspoon of salt, lemon to taste. Salt and syrup replace what you sweat out, ginger settles your stomach, vinegar makes it drinkable instead of cloying.
The vinegar in this one I made from our own apples. Recipe's on the card. Save it before hay season hits you.
